The Number That Answered Back
Jessica was used to getting spam calls. She always ignored unknown numbers. But one night, her phone buzzed with an unfamiliar number at exactly 9:11 PM. Curiosity got the better of her, and she answered.
"Help! There's been an accident! Blood everywhere!" A panicked voice echoed through the phone. Jessica's heart raced. She tried to respond, but the line went dead.
The next evening, at the same time, her phone buzzed again. This time, she let it ring, but the voicemail was equally terrifying. "They're breaking in! I don't know if I'll make it!"
Shaken, Jessica reported the calls to the police. They investigated but found nothing. The calls continued, always at 9:11 PM, and each more horrific than the last. One night, a voice sobbed, "They took my child. Please help us."
Jessica's nights were sleepless. She became obsessed, trying to trace the calls. Eventually, she discovered something chilling: each call came from her own number, dated one year in the future.
Realization dawned. She wasn't just hearing random cries for help. She was hearing her future self.
On the anniversary of the first call, her phone rang at 9:11 PM. "Jessica, you must listen. Move out of the house tonight! Save yourself!" It was her own voice, desperate and frightened.
She didn't hesitate. She packed and left immediately. As she drove away, she saw flames engulfing her house in the rearview mirror. Her phone buzzed one last time. "You did it, Jess. You changed the future."
